Dear Lexi,
This year for Christmas, we continued a tradition that your Aunt Gabby and I have had for several years. Your daddy and I have had this tradition since we got married. I am talking about our tradition of opening pajamas on Christmas Eve. All three of us got a nice new pair of pajamas. We took tons of pictures, watched The Christmas Carol, and then we snuggled in bed nice and warm in our new jammies.
Christmas day we went to Grandma Matteson's house. We all gathered together as a family and opened presents. You were more interested in eating the wrapping paper then opening the presents, but you quickly learned that there were new and interesting things underneath the extremely delicious tasting paper. After opening presents, we ate really tasty breakfast burritos. Well, you just had a little bit of scrambled egg, but Daddy and I ate breakfast burritos. Then everyone took a nap. It was a pretty good first Christmas.
On the 28th, you and I flew to California. You were amazing on the flight, which was great for mommy since I was travelling alone with you. Everyone in California was so excited to meet you. They had only ever seen pictures of you and they were super excited to see you. And truthfully mommy was pretty excited to show you off. On January 4th, daddy flew in to meet us in California. You were super excited to see him after not seeing him for so long. And he was super excited to see you.
We got to visit your Nana and Grampa Givens, your Aunt Gabby, your grandpa and grandma Miller, and your grama Papineau. Along with several family friends; Misty, Michelle, Maclyn, and Brittney. We also went down to Monterey and visited with your Aunt Ammie and her family.
You had a few adventures while we were in California:
First: you got your first real taste of what dogs were. Grama Papineau had a little tiny teacup chiauau that was perfect sized for you. You two would play like you were best friends. She would step on your head and you would giggle, pick her up and throw her. She would run back and hop back on for another round. It was really cute watching you play together.
Second: We learned about your love for jelly fish. We went to the Monterey Aquarium and you just loved being able to sit infront of the jelly fish tank and watch them. You kept touching the glass and staring so intently at them.
Third: You had your first couple of tumbles. You fell off of a recliner and off of a bench at the kitchen table. Daddy and I were both heartbroken when you fell, but you didn't really seemed phased at all.
Our return trip to Texas was pretty uneventful. You were so well behaved.
That is pretty much all of our adventures to California.
I love you Lexi,

Mommy!

Pictures with Santa
Dear Lexi,
We recently went to the Mall to get pictures of Santa. Mommy was kind of worried about whether or not you would like him, but you just LOVED Santa. You were so fascinated by him, we had to almost yell to get your attention focused on the camera. It was such a great experience. I hope Santa understands baby language and can bring you everything you want this Christmas.

Thanksgiving at Myrtle Beach!
Dear Lexi,
For Thanksgiving we went with the Matteson family to Myrtle Beach. A majority of your cousins were there. It was your first time on the beach and your first time on an airplane. You actually did really well on the airplane. You cried for a little bit, but mainly because Mommy was so stressed about making you sure you were comfortable. You fell asleep and took a short little nap. It would have been longer, but Mommy really had to pee. You woke up when I passed you to Daddy. You were so good during the whole flight though. The lady next to us loved you and played with you a ton.
When we got to the beach, you tried to eat sand. Daddy was so protective of you though. He wouldn't let you get it anywhere near your mouth. As soon as it was on your hands he picked you up and poured water on your hands to rinse them off. He is such a good daddy!!

We went to the aquarium. You really enjoyed looking at all of the fish. Your favorite part was when we were in a tunnel completely surrounded by water. It was so fun to see your little face light up so bright.

On the flight home, you were amazing. You sat on Mommy's lap playing with the fold down tray and then just passed out. You slept until we landed. It was so much fun being able to spend some time away from Texas.

Milestones and Fun Pictures
Dear Lexi,
This month you hit a lot of milestones. You started being able to sit unassisted, you learned to grab and reach at things, and you learned to pick things up off of your face. Daddy puts a diaper wipe on your face while he is changing you because you are a wiggly little thing who doesn't like to sit still. This month you learned how to use your thumb and index finger to pick it up off your face and toss it beside you. You also learned how to blow rasberries with your lips. It is the cutest thing watching you pucker out your lips and make noises.
Here is a picture of you sitting up...

Here is a picture of you with your rubber ducky (that you just started to love this month)...

Here is a picture of you finding your toes! Big accomplishment!

Here is a picture of you standing while holding onto something rather than daddy and mommy helping you stand...

I love you Lexi!

Adventures
Dear Lexi,
This past month we went on a lot of adventures with you. The first thing we did was go to the Dallas Museum of Art. You loved it. There was so much fun stuff for you to look at. The interactive display was your favorite because you got to touch strange things.

The next thing we did was go to the Pumpkin Patch. You were kind of unsure of whether or not you liked the Pumpkin Patch. You were being a little grouchy, but then we went on a Hayride. You LOVED the hayride. Afterwards you were all smiles and giggles. It was a fun day. We ended up getting you a mini pumpkin. You also had a really cute outfit that your Aunt Wendy bought you. You were the prettiest baby there!

The next adventure from this month is that we started you on solid foods. Not a lot, just a bite here and there. You really aren't too fond of them yet, but they are growing on you.

4 Month Stats and Pictures

Dear Lexi,
Your 4 month appointment was on Friday October 1, 2010. You weighed 18 pounds 6 ounces and were 25 inches long. You got your shots, which made you incredibly upset. You cried in pain while on the table and as soon as I picked you up you screamed at me until I took you out to the reception area. You stopped screaming shortly when we were outside. When I put you in your carseat you looked at me like "after all that you just put me through, now you are putting me in this thing." And then you started screaming. Poor baby!
I felt so bad for you! My poor baby! I love you and I'm so sorry you had to get shots!
Love,
Mommy
